Job description
Data and Monitoring Project Manager
(32 hours per week)
Do you have a heart for data and a passion for translating data into information for monitoring, evaluation and learning? We warmly invite you to apply for this position.
Your role
As part of our 2030 strategy, one of our three strategic goals is to build evidence that supports adaptive management, strengthens policy influence, and demonstrates legitimacy to funders and stakeholders.
Currently, there are key gaps in how we collect, manage, and interpret our impact and operational data across teams and landscape partners about Holistic Landscape Restoration (HLR). Your role aims to address these challenges by developing a lean, scalable, and pragmatic data and impact measurement system that strengthens Commonland’s evidence base and internal learning capacity.
Your responsibilities
Data Management & System Design
Assess current data practices across all internal teams and potentially (key) partners.
Identify organisational data requirements with a focus on impact tracking, but also including communications, fundraising, Landscape Development & Support (LD&S), and carbon-related reporting
Design a lean and scalable data management system to support structured and reliable data collection aligned with reporting.
Propose a model for ownership and governance of the system post-development (who maintains, updates, and uses it).
2. Impact Measurement Method Development
Develop a lean HLR impact measurement method that Commonland can own and implement.
Build on existing indicators and systems.
Clarify which impact elements are measured annually and which every five years (e.g., baseline vs. deep dive).
Provide recommendations on implementation: Internal vs. external assessment, role of anchor partners, data sources and frequency
3. Capacity Strengthening for Landscape Teams
Support the set-up of a basic training module or guidance materials for MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) to support partners and landscape teams.
Offer technical assistance where needed to help local teams align with Commonland’s new impact framework and indicators.
We offer you
The opportunity to create sustainable and social impact across continents
A salary range between EUR 4200 and 4600 gross based on a full-time contract, depending on your level of work experience.
A one-year contract, optionally extending when necessary and feasible, with the option to extend depending on available budget.
A dynamic, international environment with passionate colleagues.
Holiday allowance of 8%, an annual learning budget of EUR 2000 and a pension scheme.
Healthy Monday team lunches, monthly drinks, inspiration sessions and a great office with good coffee and a stunning view.
